How to Lose Weight Using Your Strengths

Sharing is caring!

Today I’m sharing tips on how to lose weight using your strengths. I’m on a new weight loss journey and want to bring you along in my process.

Are you like me? You’ve tried a number of programs and none of them seem to work? You feel like a failure because you can’t seem to stick to a plan. I’m right there with you. I’ve used nearly every program out there. Some helped, some didn’t, but all of them left me feeling dissatisfied.

Getting to Know myself

Last year I was introduced to the Clifton Strengths Assessment. It had a huge impact in how I viewed myself. Seeing myself in the words of the assessment helped me make sense of my personality and wiring. Thanks to the help of a friend, I learned that every strength can be a weakness. This happens when we aren’t looking for the blindspots. For example, my restorative strength allows me to quickly identify what’s not working so I can try to fix it, but sometimes it becomes my greatest weakness when all I see are problems.

Once I was introduced to the world of Clifton Strengths I learned that there is a whole range of books and resources for how to use your strengths to improve nearly every relationship in your life. There are books for marriage, family relationships, and professional relationships.

There are books and resources for using your Clifton Strengths to improve every relationship except for your relationship with your body.

The Missing Link

I’m here to change that.

You’re tired of all of the experts telling you what you should do. You’re sick of feeling overwhelmed by the contradictory information. So am I.

My goal is to teach you how to use your strengths to create a plan that will work for you. By leveraging your strengths you’re able to create an adaptable plan that changes with your needs. You will chart a course that supports you regardless of your circumstances. You will no longer fear getting derailed by pregnancy, job changes, or illness. This is because you are creating a foundation of caring for your body from a place of respect and worthiness with a framework centered around your unique strengths.

Too often we try to follow a plan that will only work under the most ideal circumstances. Many plans are incompatible with the messiness of life.

By leaning into your strengths you will have a plan for supporting your physical health no matter the circumstances.

My Toughest Client

I’m starting this process by working with my most difficult client – myself.

I have chronic pain, residual effects from septic shock and multiple pregnancies, high cholesterol, sleep and bladder issues, gut problems and more. I want to feel well. Vibrancy and longevity are my goal. Functional movement will allow me to run after my future grandkids.

I believe my body is worthy of care and attention. I’m doing that by working with my strengths instead of against them.

Your body is worthy of care and attention. It is worthy of love. Your body is good and it wants your support and kindness.
